The latest information on DAB digital radio
From 6am on Monday 29 February, Heart extra will start broadcasting on the national commercial DAB digital radio network.
Operated by Global Radio, the new station will play even more hits and ‘more music variety’ from the 80s to the present day. It will also feature some of its sister station Heart’s best loved presenters, such as Jamie Theakston, Emma Bunton, Jenni Falconer, Mark Wright and Jason Donovan.
Ashley Tabor, Global’s founder & executive president, said: “Today’s announcement marks another important step for Global and for Digital radio. Heart extra will bring even more of the nation’s most popular commercial radio brand to audiences right across the UK on the D1 platform. Our strategy of brand extension and investment in building audiences on national DAB is very clear. We’re driving digital radio take up and more and more of our listeners are enjoying our radio stations on DAB than ever before.”
Gary Stein, Heart’s managing editor, said: “We know our listeners love the feel good music they hear on Heart and now they can listen to even more hits and ‘more music variety’ on Heart extra. Heart is the biggest commercial radio brand in the UK and we’re excited about taking this next step to make it even bigger and better.”
