UCB UK
Featuring the top 10 in contemporary Christian music, as well as great features, interviews, chat, lively discussion and plenty of banter and competitions, UCB UK is not what you might expect from a ‘religious’ radio station.
A typical weekday starts off with a bang at sunrise with Breakfast host Robbie Frawley and loads of great music, as well as Life Bites and Word 4 Today. Paul Hammond follows with discussion of life’s big issues and loads of music, and then it’s time for a mellow afternoon with Abi Gregory, featuring Just Thinking, Different Perspective and Daily Encounter.
Resident Kiwi, Luke Weston, keeps you company for the drive home with more Life Bites and news, then Juls Martin is with you through the late evening and beyond with Insight for Living, In Touch, Praise and Worship and the nightly bedtime brainteaser. The shows are all backed up by a thriving online community through the website and on facebook.
UCB UK has been broadcasting in the UK from the mid 80s – the dream was always to go national but until the advent of digital radio, legislation prevented religious broadcasters from having national licences. In 1986, UCB operated from a volunteer’s spare bedroom, using a borrowed typewriter and filing cabinet, but today, we have a 5 radio stations, a TV channel, and employ more than 100 people across two sites in Staffordshire. We’re also the publishers of the Word for Today, daily Bible reading notes which are read by around 1 million people every quarter. UCB UK began broadcasting nationally on digital radio on 1st December 2009.
