The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show from Absolute Radio makes an appearance from 6am on weekdays, then its back in the time-machine at 10am with Nick Jackson. Afternoons belong to Leona Graham – at school she brought in mix tapes for her friends, making them check out the latest bands; now she’s on your radio reliving those same great 80s hits.

Weekends and evenings are filled with Richie Firth’s choice of 80s party classics including Human League, U2, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Prince, ABC, Depeche Mode, Blondie and Bon Jovi and not forgetting a sprinkle of timeless tunes from artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and Culture Club.

It’s the decade that brought you space shuttles, Nintendo, The DeLorean, MTV, Mr. T, The Empire Strikes Back, Magnum P.I, Ray Ban, BMX, leggings, the rubix cube, Atari, Ecto-1, teletext, Ferris Bueller, Top Gun, Saved By The Bell, Harrison Ford, yo-yos, pastel colours... However you look at it, the 80s rocked.

It was the beginning of New Wave and synthesisers, Glam Rock and Heavy Metal. Meanwhile Hip Hop continued to evolve, and College Rock exploded onto the underground. Artists such as Phil Collins and Sting, Prince and Wham!, Cyndi Lauper and Axl Rose, Freddy Mercury and Kylie Minogue all became household names.

Now, Absolute 80s is saluting the entire decade; transporting the music and lifestyle of an analogue era, into the brand new and sparkling digital age.
