Cutting edge combinations

Elsewhere on this site, you’ll find stacks of information about why we
think DAB digital radio offers the best radio listening experience in the UK. But if you can’t resist the lure of other gadgets or cutting edge technologies, here’s our special round up of products that combine DAB digital radio with…

...iPod
The Intempo iDAB

Intempo iDAB

Much as we’d love commuters on the Underground to all be listening to DAB digital radios, the laws of physics make that a difficult challenge. But just because you bought an iPod doesn’t mean you should entirely miss out on digital radio when you’re above ground. There’s a wide array of docking stations for iPods or MP3 players that also let you enjoy DAB digital radio. Now you can even buy an add-on that plugs straight into your iPod and lets it pick up digital radio.

Look out for products from Denon, Eton Porsche, Goodmans, Intempo, Panasonic, Sony and Vita Audio. Our favourite? The Intempo iDAB (around £58 from Amazon). Just 4cm x 4cm x 1cm make this a neat and tidy gadget that’s bound to impress.

Evoke Flow

...Wifi

Hundreds of DAB digital radio stations are now broadcasting in the UK. Choose from national, local, commercial and BBC. Want an even wider choice or a way of listening to foreign stations? Then why not opt for a DAB digital radio that also offers Wifi. These clever combinations let you navigate through DAB digital radio stations as well as internet stations from across the globe: giving you more choice than you’ll know what to do with.

Look out for products from Intempo, Pure, Revo or Roberts. Our favourite? The Pure Evoke Flow (around £145 from John Lewis). Any product that wins 12 awards in the first few months after launch has to be a top choice.

...ways to record
Pure Evoke 3

Pure Evoke 3

The days of pressing buttons on a cassette player to record from the radio are long gone. Nowadays you’ll find DAB digital radios complete with Electronic Programme Guides. So if you like the ease of flicking through the telly to see what’s on and setting a timer to record, just imagine how helpful it is to do the same with your favourite radio programmes. Many of these products come with SD cards, so that you can take the content and listen to it on another device.

Look out for products from Morphy Richards, Pure or Roberts. Our favourite? The Pure Evoke 3 (around £166 from Currys). It was the world’s most advanced digital radio when it first launched and nobody’s challenged that claim yet.

Pure Highway

...in-car listening

Don’t restrict yourself to only listening to digital radio when you’re at home. Some new cars have DAB digital radios options or an in-car hifi specialist can fit a replacement for your old car stereo.

Looking for something even easier? Try the Pure Highway (around £68 from Argos). Just a few minutes of your time (no mess, no hassle) and you’ll be able to convert your car radio into one that receives DAB digital radio. Click to find out more.

...even more

Or if that’s not enough to inspire, then check out our other products for digital radios combined with DVD players, phones/answerphones and even a record deck.

Or how about DAB digital radios coupled with environmentally-friendly technology. It seems like these days almost anything is possible.
