BFBS ceasing on digital radio

article date: Tuesday, January 24, 2017

ref: 3419

BFBS, the Forces radio station, has announced that it will cease broadcasting on Digital One’s national commercial digital radio multiplex this March.

Glyn Jones, Commercial Manager for Digital One commented: “It’s always sad when a station stops broadcasting on Digital One, especially for its listeners and the programme team. But we recognise the financial pressures BFBS face and know the charity’s Trustees have only taken this step reluctantly.”
“We can’t confirm anything about what will replace BFBS and any changes need Ofcom’s approval. But I’m always keen to hear from new people wanting to join the 30+ commercial stations on national digital radio. They can contact me using this form.”

SSVC, the non-profit corporation which owns BFBS, issued a statement saying: “Like all charities we have to assess the value we get from everything we spend and measure it against all the demands on our resources”. The BFBS service will continue on other platforms in the UK, such as satellite and internet, as well as around the world.

We will update this site once we’re able to release information about a replacement service.
