Panjab Radio is the first national commercial Asian station on digital radio in the UK. Some estimates put the number of Panjabi speakers in Britain at more than 2million and since the station first launched on Sky in 2000, it has gone from strength to strength, building a loyal following. With an aim to unite all Panjabis worldwide through radio, Panjab Radio launched nationally on digital radio in December 2009.

Surjit Ghuman

The station can boast a subscribed membership base of loyal and devout listeners who support the station and its content. Panjab Radio has a 100% Panjabi music policy and ranges in programming from Sikh hymns, to cookery programmes, health shows to quizzes, debates and upbeat Bhangra music.

Chaman Lal Chaman

Panjab Radio doesn't just broadcast, but is involved in a number of community and religious events. It lends support to events throughout the year, and whether it’s a small local event or a national event, Panjab Radio takes a very hands on approach.

Panjab Radio has an array of over 20 presenters ranging from Dr Jagbir whose permanent morning feature shares hymns and insights of religious texts with the early risers, through to DJ Restless, Ricky, Raji and Indi who attract a younger audience.

Long-standing presenter Chaman Lal Chaman, who was recently honoured at the Asian achievers awards, presents poetry shows on the station. Debates and talk shows feature views from many popular presenters and even Managing Director Surjit Ghuman can be found on air discussing topical issues.
