Absolute Radio extra is the new digital station from Absolute Radio
Listeners to Absolute Radio extra will be able to hear the best in exclusive and extended digital content such as uninterrupted live stage sets, football commentary and full-speech comedy programming.
Here’s what you can expect from Absolute Radio extra:
- extra Football – 32 live & exclusive Barclays Premier League commentaries, not available on TV, in ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Live’ Saturday afternoon’s from 3pm. This new service compliments Absolute Radio’s existing Rock ‘N’ Roll Football mix of music and goals fronted by Russ Williams.
- extra Music – Absolute Radio extra will broadcast full live sets from artists including Paul Weller, Paolo Nutini, Madness, Kasabian and Kings of Leon. You can expect full stage performances from top festivals and the best of the Absolute Radio Live Sessions throughout the year.
- extra Comedy & Talent – Christian O’Connell, Frank Skinner, Iain Lee, Dave Gorman & Geoff Lloyd – listen again to the best of Absolute Radio’s comedy talent plus new and exclusive audio extended content.
The extra Football on Saturday afternoons will look like this:
- 1.30pm Russ Williams will anchor the station’s
pre-match build-up.
- 3pm Jim Proudfoot hold’s the mantle of match commentator from 3pm exclusively on Absolute Radio extra. Proudfoot’s credentials include commentating on Sky’s Premier League highlights programme ‘Goals on Sunday’ and ‘Football First’ as well as Setanta Sports and EPSN Sports. Jim was the lead Champions League commentator and the principal commentator at the 2010 FIFA World Cup on UK commercial radio.
- 5pm Ian Wright the former England and Arsenal forward and respected radio and TV broadcaster will anchor
post-match commentary and analysis from 5pm, accompanied by Jim Proudfoot, Russ Williams and guests. Since his retirement from football, Ian has featured as a pundit on BBC Sport’s International Match of the Day as well as appearing on the panel for Euro 2004 and the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
