Planned Interruptions

This section is used to record any planned interruptions to services on the Digital One network. There are many reasons for interruptions, including installing equipment, general maintenance and preventative work.

The information given is designed to help listeners, manufacturers and retailers understand why services may be temporarily lost or signal strength may be temporarily reduced.

EMLEY MOOR TRANSMITTER
Yorkshire
Dates: 27 Jun 2009 to 2 Aug 2010 Time: 09:30 - 16:30
Effect(s) on service: 127 days of continuous reduced power (half antenna working -3dB), then a further 135 days of continuous reduced power (half antenna working -3dB) with more reduced power (-6dB) between the above times. At the start and end of periods of reduced power there will be a short shutdown between the above times between the above dates. Occasionally, there may be periods of reduced power between 16:30 and 06:00 but these will be kept to a minimum. No work will take place from 12 Dec 09 - 3 Jan 10

Effect(s) on service: The site will be operating at reduced power (-6dB) for seven hours to allow engineers to carry out work on television equipment on the site. For health and safety reason the digital radio transmitter needs to be on reduced power while the work is carried out.

Additionally very reduced power (-15dB) between the above times on one day between the above dates. This work is to allow DSO work.

SUTTON COLDFIELD TRANSMITTER
Birmingham, W Midlands and Staffordshire incl Sutton Coldfield and Walsall
Dates: 23 Sep 2009 to 15 Dec 2010 Time: 09:30 - 16:30
Effect(s) on service: 5 days of reduced power (-6dB and -9dB). 3 x 15 minute shutdowns between the above times on three dayd between the above dates. 4 days with shutdowns and periods of reduced power between the above times. The remaining days broadcasting continuously at full power, but 30m lower than normal on a temporary mast to allow DSO work.
